Apprenticship Program

  plantin Christopher Plantin

Biblical Literature Fellowship offers a one-year introduction to communications in the context of a mission publishing house located in Northern France. During the year the apprentice assists with various aspects of publishing, and gets a firsthand introduction to missionary work.

Apprentices with the following skills are accepted:

  • Printing
  • Offset platemaking
  • Binding
  • Maintenance (general & bindery equipment)
  • Shipping
  • General Office & Administrative Work

The Apprenticeship program is open to Christian young people (at least 21 years of age), preferably with a secular or Bible college education. This is an opportunity to explore a service ministry that provides some of the most effective tools for mission and church work throughout the world. As apprentices work in their area of interest, they are also exposed to other aspects of the publishing ministry.

Apprentices must raise financial support to cover their salary, room and board, travel and insurance.

Language skills are not required for the apprenticeship program, as English is spoken by most of the staff, as well as some local Europeans. However, applicants are strongly encouraged to learn at least minimal amount of French while preparing and raising funds for their apprenticeship, so as to make their overall experience more meaningful.

Note:

The Christopher Plantin Apprenticeship program derives its name from the man who perfected the art of printing. In 1550, Christopher Plantin (Frenchman) established the world' s largest printing press of its day in the Belgian town of Anterp.
